Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is this website?

This site collects my personal writeups and learning resources for CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions. It hosts step-by-step solutions, explanations and tips to help learners understand attack techniques and defensive countermeasures. Note that writeups may contain spoilers for challenge statements and solutions.

Challenges

I’m a beginner, where should I start?

Start with challenges labelled Beginner/Easy, especially in the Web and Crypto categories. Practical tips:

  • Carefully read the challenge statement and note any hints.
  • Recreate the environment locally when possible (Docker, VM).
  • Read other writeups to learn common patterns and techniques.
  • Use standard tools: browser DevTools, curl, python, gdb, radare2, binwalk, and responsibly sqlmap for SQL issues.
How can I contribute a writeup?

Contributions are welcome. You can:

  • Submit a pull request with a Markdown writeup file to the site’s repository.
  • Email your writeup to hackdrinkflagrepeat[at]gmail.com if you prefer the team to publish it.
